Description

Human JN ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human JN ELISA kits are used to detect Juxtanodin (JN) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. JN, also known as juxtanodin or ermin, is an actin-associated protein related to the ERM family that is expressed in myelinating oligodendrocytes of the central nervous system. It is thought to play a role in cytoskeletal rearrangements during the late wrapping and compaction phases of myelin formation, and in the maintenance and stability of the myelin sheath in the adult. JN may also be important for late-stage oligodendrocyte maturation, for formation of myelin and the nodes of Ranvier during development, and for the plasticity of these structures in the mature brain. It is studied as a marker of myelinating cells in demyelinating and neurodegenerative conditions.
