Description

Human KRT7 ELISA Kit

Human KRT7 ELISA kits are used to detect Keratin 7 (KRT7) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. KRT7, also known as cytokeratin 7, is a type II intermediate filament protein that forms heterodimers with type I keratins, most notably keratin 19, to build the cytoskeleton of simple epithelial cells. It is found in the epithelium of the lung, breast, ovary, bile ducts, urothelium and many glands, but is absent from the epithelium of the colon and most squamous cells. KRT7 has also been described, as sarcolectin, as blocking interferon-dependent interphase and stimulating DNA synthesis, and it is involved in the translational regulation of the human papillomavirus type 16 E7 mRNA. Because its expression pattern is so characteristic, KRT7 is widely used in diagnostic pathology to help determine the origin of carcinomas and metastatic tumours.
