Description

Human LGALS3BP ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human LGALS3BP ELISA kits are used to detect Lectin Galactoside Binding, Soluble 3 Binding Protein (LGALS3BP) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. LGALS3BP, also known as Mac-2 binding protein or 90K, is a large secreted glycoprotein that interacts with galectin-3, galectin-1 and extracellular matrix components such as integrins, collagen and fibronectin. It promotes integrin-mediated cell adhesion and has been proposed to stimulate host defence against viruses and tumour cells, in part by enhancing natural killer and lymphokine-activated cell responses. The protein is detected in serum and other body fluids and in the extracellular matrix, where it can influence cell-matrix interactions and cell migration. Increased circulating levels have been reported in chronic viral infections, including HIV and hepatitis C, and in many cancers, with higher levels often associated with poorer prognosis. It is also studied as a marker of liver fibrosis.
