Human LONP1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)

Human LONP1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Phe421-Phe947, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 60.72 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Lon protease homolog, mitochondrial is a ~106 kDa protein. ATP-dependent serine protease that mediates the selective degradation of misfolded, unassembled or oxidatively damaged polypeptides as well as certain short-lived regulatory proteins in the mitochondrial matrix. For research use only.

Endogenous substrates include mitochondrial steroidogenic acute regulatory (StAR) protein, DELE1, helicase Twinkle (TWNK) and the large ribosomal subunit protein MRPL32/bL32m. MRPL32/bL32m is protected from degradation by LONP1 when it is bound to a nucleic acid (RNA), but TWNK is not. May also have a chaperone function in the assembly of inner membrane protein complexes. Participates in the regulation of mitochondrial gene expression and in the maintenance of the integrity of the mitochondrial genome.
