Description

Human MAX ELISA Kit

Human MAX ELISA kits are used to detect MYC Associated Factor X (MAX) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. MAX (MYC-associated factor X) is a small basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper transcription regulator expressed in essentially all cells. It forms sequence-specific DNA-binding heterodimers with MYC or MAD family proteins that recognize the E-box core sequence CACGTG. MYC:MAX complexes activate genes controlling proliferation, growth and metabolism, whereas MAD:MAX complexes repress transcription, in part by recruiting chromatin-modifying complexes with histone methyltransferase activity, so MAX sits at the center of a network that balances growth and differentiation. Germline loss-of-function variants in MAX predispose to pheochromocytoma, a catecholamine-producing tumor, and variants have also been linked to a polydactyly-macrocephaly syndrome, while MAX alterations have been reported in small-cell lung cancer.
