Description

Human OLFM1 ELISA Kit

Human OLFM1 ELISA kits are used to detect Noelin (OLFM1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. OLFM1, or noelin, is a secreted glycoprotein of the olfactomedin family that is highly expressed in neural tissue, where it is found in the endoplasmic reticulum, along axons and in the extracellular space. It regulates axonal growth in the developing and adult central nervous system by interfering with interactions between the Nogo receptor RTN4R and LINGO1, which prevents growth cone collapse induced by RTN4R. During embryonic development it may influence the production of neural crest cells from the neural tube, and it may be needed for normal responses to olfactory stimuli. Altered expression has been reported in neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer disease and in some cancers, and it is studied in neuronal development.
