Description

Human OPTN ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human OPTN ELISA kits are used to detect Optineurin (OPTN) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. OPTN, or optineurin, is a multifunctional adaptor protein that helps maintain the Golgi complex and takes part in membrane trafficking and exocytosis through its interactions with myosin VI and Rab8. It links myosin VI to the Golgi and contributes to Golgi ribbon formation. OPTN also plays a role in activating innate immunity during viral infection: it recruits TBK1 to the Golgi, promoting its trans-phosphorylation, after which TBK1 phosphorylates IRF3 to induce interferon beta. In addition, it acts as an autophagy receptor in the removal of damaged mitochondria and protein aggregates, and it has a neuroprotective role in the eye and optic nerve. Mutations in OPTN cause primary open angle glaucoma and some forms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
