Description

Human PDCD1 ELISA Kit

Human PDCD1 ELISA kits are used to detect Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PDCD1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. PDCD1, also known as PD-1 or CD279, is an inhibitory receptor found on antigen-activated T cells that helps maintain immune tolerance to self. After binding its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2 it is phosphorylated and recruits the phosphatase SHP-2, which dampens T-cell receptor signaling and suppresses T-cell activation. Tumors exploit this pathway to attenuate anti-tumor immunity, and blocking it can reverse T-cell exhaustion, which is the rationale for checkpoint-inhibitor cancer immunotherapy. PDCD1 deficiency has also been linked to a rare infantile-onset multisystem autoimmune disease. PDCD1 is therefore an important target in tumor immunology, autoimmunity and chronic infection research.
