Description

Human PIBF1 ELISA Kit

Human PIBF1 ELISA kits are used to detect Progesterone Immunomodulatory Binding Factor 1 (PIBF1) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. PIBF1 is a protein with two distinct roles, depending on its isoform. The full-length form is a pericentriolar protein, also called CEP90, that maintains spindle pole integrity, supports centriole duplication and the recruitment of centriolar satellite proteins, and is required for formation of primary cilia. A secreted shorter isoform acts as a mediator of progesterone during pregnancy, shifting immune responses toward a Th2 profile through JAK/STAT signalling, modulating arachidonic acid metabolism and restraining decidual natural killer cell activity, which supports pregnancy. Variants in PIBF1 cause Joubert syndrome, a ciliopathy, and it has been studied as an indicator of pregnancy-related immune modulation.
