Description

Human PICALM ELISA Kit

Human PICALM ELISA kits are used to detect Phosphatidylinositol Binding Clathrin Assembly Protein (PICALM) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. PICALM is a cytoplasmic adaptor protein with a central role in clathrin-mediated endocytosis. It recruits AP-2 and attaches clathrin triskelions to the inner face of the plasma membrane, helping assemble clathrin-coated vesicles, and it senses and drives membrane curvature to regulate vesicle size and maturation. PICALM also mediates endocytosis of small R-SNAREs such as VAMP2, VAMP3 and VAMP8, which supports the formation of autophagic precursors and the turnover of substrates including tau and the APP C-terminal fragment. A chromosomal translocation fusing PICALM with MLLT10 is found in some lymphomas and leukaemias, and genetic variation at the PICALM locus has been associated with Alzheimer disease risk.
