Description

Human PTGIR ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human PTGIR ELISA kits are used to detect Prostacyclin Receptor (PTGIR) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. PTGIR, the prostacyclin receptor or prostanoid IP receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor for prostacyclin (prostaglandin I2, or PGI2). Its activity is mediated by Gs proteins that activate adenylate cyclase and raise intracellular cAMP. It is found on vascular smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells and platelets, where prostacyclin signalling promotes vasodilation and inhibits platelet aggregation, acting in opposition to thromboxane. PTGIR also contributes to inflammatory and pain responses. Because prostacyclin pathways are important in cardiovascular homeostasis, the receptor is a target of drugs used in pulmonary arterial hypertension and is studied in thrombosis, vascular biology and inflammation.
