Description

Human SIGLEC8 ELISA Kit

Human SIGLEC8 ELISA kits are used to detect Sialic Acid Binding Ig Like Lectin 8 (SIGLEC8) in cell lysates and other biological samples. SIGLEC8 (sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 8) is a member of the CD33-related Siglec family of cell-surface lectins, expressed mainly on eosinophils and mast cells and at lower levels on basophils. It mediates sialic acid-dependent binding to blood cells, preferring alpha-2,3-linked sialic acid but also recognizing alpha-2,6-linked residues, and it binds epitopes combining terminal sialic acid with underlying 6-O-sulfated galactose, such as sulfated sialyl-Lewis X. Its cytoplasmic tail carries inhibitory motifs, and engagement of the receptor can induce eosinophil apoptosis and restrain mast cell activation, so SIGLEC8 is studied as a regulator of allergic inflammation and a target in eosinophilic and mast cell disorders.
