Description

Human SKIL ELISA Kit

Human SKIL ELISA kits are used to detect SKI Like Oncogene (SKIL) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. SKIL, also known as SnoN, is a nuclear protein related to the Ski oncoprotein and is expressed in many tissues. Its main role is as a transcriptional co-repressor that binds SMAD proteins and inhibits transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) signalling, and it also interacts with histone deacetylase complexes. SKIL levels are tightly controlled by ubiquitin-mediated degradation after TGF-beta stimulation, which creates a feedback loop. The protein can influence cell proliferation, differentiation and response to extracellular signals, and its effect is context dependent. It may support tumour growth in some settings while exerting growth-suppressive activity in others, so SKIL is studied in cancer biology, fibrosis and developmental signalling.
