Human SMC2 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Asn473-Ser673, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 24.77 kDa. Structural maintenance of chromosomes protein 2 (SMC2) is a ~135 kDa protein. Central component of the condensin complex, a complex required for conversion of interphase chromatin into mitotic-like condense chromosomes. For research use only.
The condensin complex probably introduces positive supercoils into relaxed DNA in the presence of type I topoisomerases and converts nicked DNA into positive knotted forms in the presence of type II topoisomerases.
