Description

Human TCIRG1 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human TCIRG1 ELISA kits are used to detect T-Cell, Immune Regulator 1 (TCIRG1) in serum and other biological samples. TCIRG1 encodes the a3 subunit of the V0 domain of the vacuolar H+-ATPase, a proton pump that acidifies intracellular compartments and, in some cell types, the extracellular space. The a3 isoform is abundant in osteoclasts, where it is delivered to the ruffled border to acidify the resorption lacuna and dissolve bone mineral, and it is also expressed in immune cells and was originally linked to T cell activation. Loss-of-function mutations in TCIRG1 are the most common cause of autosomal recessive osteopetrosis, in which defective bone resorption produces abnormally dense, brittle bone and bone marrow failure. Altered expression has been described in some cancers, so TCIRG1 is studied in bone biology and immune function.
