Description

Human TDO ELISA Kit

Human TDO ELISA kits are used to detect Tryptophan-2,3-dioxygenase (TDO) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. TDO is a heme-dependent dioxygenase, encoded by TDO2, that catalyses the oxidative cleavage of the L-tryptophan indole ring to produce N-formyl-L-kynurenine, the first and rate-limiting step of the kynurenine pathway. It is expressed mainly in the liver, where it controls tryptophan levels and is induced by glucocorticoids and by tryptophan itself. By degrading tryptophan, TDO affects the availability of this serotonin precursor and generates kynurenine metabolites that influence immune tolerance and neuroactivity. Variants have been associated with hypertryptophanemia, and TDO is studied in cancer immune evasion and neuropsychiatric research.
