Description

Human TF ELISA Kit

Human TF ELISA kits are used to detect Thymic Factor (TF) in plasma and other biological samples. Thymic factor, also known as thymulin or facteur thymique serique, is a small zinc-dependent nonapeptide hormone produced by the epithelial cells of the thymus. Its biological activity depends on binding zinc, which gives the peptide the right conformation to act on T cell precursors, promoting their differentiation and the expression of T cell markers and enhancing the function of mature T cells, including natural killer and regulatory activity. It also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and may influence neuroendocrine interactions. Levels in blood decline with age as the thymus involutes, and are reduced in zinc deficiency, malnutrition and some immunodeficiency conditions, so it is studied as an indicator of thymic endocrine function and of ageing of the immune system.
