Description
Human TG Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human TG Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Ser2083-Ala2333, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 29.63 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Thyroglobulin (TG) is a ~304 kDa protein. Acts as a substrate for the production of iodinated thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). For research use only.
The synthesis of T3 and T4 involves iodination of selected tyrosine residues of TG/thyroglobulin followed by their oxidative coupling in the thyroid follicle lumen. Following TG re-internalization and lysosomal-mediated proteolysis, T3 and T4 are released from the polypeptide backbone leading to their secretion into the bloodstream. One dimer produces 7 thyroid hormone molecules.
