Description

Human TNX ELISA Kit

Human TNX ELISA kits are used to detect Tenascin X (TNX) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. TNX, or tenascin-X, is a large glycoprotein of the extracellular matrix, encoded by the TNXB gene and expressed particularly in connective tissues such as skin, tendon, muscle and blood vessels. It acts as a substrate-adhesion molecule that mediates interactions between cells and matrix and appears to inhibit cell migration, and it accelerates collagen fibril formation, thereby influencing the mechanical properties and elasticity of connective tissue. Tenascin-X may also support the growth of some epithelial tumours. Complete deficiency causes a recessive classical-like form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, with skin hyperextensibility, joint hypermobility and easy bruising, and altered TNX levels have been associated with connective tissue and wound-healing disorders.
