Description

Human TPPP ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human TPPP ELISA kits are used to detect Tubulin Polymerization Promoting Protein (TPPP) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. TPPP, also called p25alpha, is a small, largely unstructured brain protein that regulates microtubule dynamics and is enriched in oligodendrocytes, the myelin-forming cells of the central nervous system. It promotes tubulin polymerisation, bundles and stabilises microtubules, and in oligodendrocytes it acts as a microtubule nucleation factor at Golgi outposts, supporting elongation of the myelin sheath. TPPP also has weak GTPase activity. Because it accumulates in pathological protein aggregates, it is strongly linked to synucleinopathies: it co-localises with alpha-synuclein in the glial cytoplasmic inclusions of multiple system atrophy and in Lewy bodies, and it is therefore studied as a marker in neurodegenerative disease and in myelination research.
