Description

Human TRA2b ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human TRA2b ELISA kits are used to detect Transformer 2 Beta (TRA2b) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. TRA2b, or transformer 2 beta, is a serine/arginine-rich splicing factor that binds specific RNA sequences and helps to control alternative splicing of pre-mRNA, either promoting or suppressing exon inclusion. It acts with RBMX to promote inclusion of exon 7 of the survival motor neuron gene SMN2, and it activates splicing of MAPT exon 10, which determines the ratio of tau isoforms. It can also antagonise the effect of other splicing regulators and takes part in regulation of its own pre-mRNA. TRA2b is widely expressed and is upregulated in several cancers, where it may affect splicing of genes involved in cell proliferation and survival. Variants have been linked to a neurodevelopmental syndrome, so it is studied in RNA processing.
