Description
Human VDR Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human VDR Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Met272-Ser427, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 20.02 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Vitamin D3 receptor (VDR) is a ~48 kDa protein. Nuclear receptor for calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D3 which mediates the action of this vitamin on cells. For research use only.
Enters the nucleus upon vitamin D3 binding where it forms heterodimers with the retinoid X receptor/RXR. The VDR-RXR heterodimers bind to specific response elements on DNA and activate the transcription of vitamin D3-responsive target genes. Plays a central role in calcium homeostasis. Also functions as a receptor for the secondary bile acid lithocholic acid (LCA) and its metabolites.
