Description

Human VISA ELISA Kit

Human VISA ELISA kits are used to detect Virus Induced Signaling Adapter (VISA) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. VISA, also known as MAVS, IPS-1 or Cardif, is an adapter protein located mainly on the outer mitochondrial membrane and on peroxisomes that is required for innate immune defence against viruses. It acts downstream of the cytosolic RNA sensors RIG-I and MDA5, and of DHX33, which detect double-stranded RNA made during viral replication, to coordinate activation of NF-kappa-B, IRF3 and IRF7 and the induction of antiviral cytokines such as interferon beta and RANTES. Peroxisomal VISA drives rapid, interferon-independent defence, whereas mitochondrial VISA gives a delayed, interferon-dependent response. It also helps recruit NLRP3 to mitochondria for inflammasome activation, so VISA is studied in antiviral immunity and inflammation.
