Description

Mouse APOB ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Mouse APOB ELISA kits are used to detect Apolipoprotein B (APOB) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. APOB, apolipoprotein B, is the principal structural protein of the lipoproteins that carry fat and cholesterol through the blood. It exists as two forms from a single gene: the large apoB-100, made in the liver and present on VLDL, IDL and LDL, and the shorter apoB-48, made in the intestine and found on chylomicrons. ApoB-100 also serves as the ligand through which LDL particles are recognized and taken up by the LDL receptor. Since every atherogenic particle carries one apoB, its level reflects the number of such particles, and it has been associated with cardiovascular risk. Truncating variants of the gene cause familial hypobetalipoproteinemia with low LDL, fat malabsorption and possible fatty liver.
