Description

Mouse APOC1 ELISA Kit

Mouse APOC1 ELISA kits are used to detect Apolipoprotein C1 (APOC1) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. APOC1 is a small apolipoprotein produced mainly in the liver and found on VLDL, chylomicrons and HDL, making up about ten percent of VLDL protein. It inhibits the binding of lipoproteins to the LDL receptor, the LDL receptor-related protein and the VLDL receptor, and so slows the hepatic clearance of triglyceride-rich particles. It also interferes with fatty acid uptake, binds free fatty acids and is the major plasma inhibitor of cholesteryl ester transfer protein, which affects HDL and LDL cholesterol levels. APOC1 can also activate lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase. Variants near the APOE and APOC1 locus have been associated with plasma lipid levels, atherosclerosis risk and Alzheimer disease, and APOC1 is studied as an inflammatory and cancer marker.
