Description

Mouse BK ELISA Kit

Mouse BK ELISA kits are used to detect Bradykinin (BK) in serum, plasma, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. BK, or bradykinin, is a nonapeptide that is released from high molecular weight kininogen when plasma kallikrein cleaves it, and it is a member of the kinin family together with kallidin. It acts through the B2 receptor, which is constitutively expressed on endothelial cells, smooth muscle and sensory neurons, and through the B1 receptor, which is induced by tissue injury. Bradykinin is a potent vasodilator that lowers blood pressure, increases vascular permeability, contracts non-vascular smooth muscle and promotes natriuresis, and it also causes pain and drives inflammation. It is rapidly broken down by angiotensin converting enzyme and other peptidases. Excess bradykinin has been associated with hereditary and ACE inhibitor-related angioedema, sepsis, inflammatory disease and pain syndromes.
