Description

Mouse CASP3 ELISA Kit

Mouse CASP3 ELISA kits are used to detect Caspase 3 (CASP3) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. CASP3 is a cysteine protease and a major executioner caspase of apoptosis, present as an inactive proenzyme that is cleaved and activated by initiator caspases such as CASP8, CASP9 and CASP10 into the p17 and p12 subunits. Once active it cleaves many cellular proteins, including PARP1, SREBPs, other caspases, AKT1, desmosomal proteins and huntingtin, to dismantle the cell in an orderly manner. It also takes part in pyroptosis and limits type I interferon production during virus-induced apoptosis by cleaving CGAS, IRF3 and MAVS. Its processing is a standard indicator of apoptotic activity, and altered CASP3 activation has been associated with cancer, neurodegeneration and ischaemic or inflammatory tissue injury.
