Description

Mouse DHODH ELISA Kit

Mouse DHODH ELISA kits are used to detect Dihydroorotate Dehydrogenase (DHODH) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. DHODH, dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, is a flavoprotein located on the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it catalyses the fourth step of de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis, oxidising dihydroorotate to orotate with ubiquinone as the electron acceptor. This links pyrimidine synthesis to the mitochondrial respiratory chain, and the product feeds UMP synthesis needed for RNA, DNA and glycoprotein production. Because rapidly dividing cells, including activated lymphocytes and some cancer cells, depend on this pathway, DHODH is the target of drugs such as leflunomide and teriflunomide used in autoimmune disease, and inhibitors are studied in leukemia and antiviral research. Recessive mutations cause postaxial acrofacial dysostosis, also known as Miller syndrome.
