Description

Mouse FGa ELISA Kit

Mouse FGa ELISA kits are used to detect Fibrinogen Alpha (FGa) in plasma and other biological samples. FGa, the fibrinogen alpha chain, is one of three polypeptides, with the beta and gamma chains, that make up fibrinogen, a large plasma glycoprotein synthesised in the liver. Thrombin cleaves fibrinopeptide A from the alpha chain to yield fibrin monomers, which polymerise into the insoluble fibrin matrix that is a primary component of blood clots and essential for haemostasis. Fibrin also stabilises wounds, guides cell migration during early repair and protects against IFNG-mediated haemorrhage in infection, and maternal fibrinogen is essential for successful pregnancy. Mutations cause congenital afibrinogenaemia and dysfibrinogenaemia, and some variants cause hereditary systemic amyloidosis. Plasma fibrinogen may be elevated as an acute-phase response and has been associated with cardiovascular risk.
