Description

Mouse MCP2 ELISA Kit

Mouse MCP2 ELISA kits are used to detect Monocyte Chemotactic Protein 2 (MCP2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. MCP2, also known as CCL8, is a CC chemokine that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils and is related to the monocyte chemotactic protein family. It is produced by cells such as fibroblasts, macrophages and endothelial cells in response to inflammatory stimuli and interferons, and it binds glycosaminoglycans such as heparin. MCP2 acts through chemokine receptors including CCR1, CCR2 and CCR5, and it has been implicated in neoplasia and inflammatory host responses. The N-terminally processed form, MCP-2(6-76), lacks chemotactic activity and instead inhibits the effects of CCL7, CCL2 and CCL5, so proteolytic processing can switch the chemokine from an activator to an antagonist. CCL8 levels have been associated with infection, allergy and some cancers.
