Description
Mouse MPO Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Mouse MPO Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Ser289-Thr718, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 51.20 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Myeloperoxidase is a ~81 kDa protein. Part of the host defense system of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. For research use only.
It is responsible for microbicidal activity against a wide range of organisms. In the stimulated PMN, MPO catalyzes the production of hypohalous acids, primarily hypochlorous acid in physiologic situations, and other toxic intermediates that greatly enhance PMN microbicidal activity. Mediates the proteolytic cleavage of alpha-1-microglobulin to form t-alpha-1-microglobulin, which potently inhibits oxidation of low density lipoprotein particles and limits vascular damage.
