Description

Mouse MSP ELISA Kit

Mouse MSP ELISA kits are used to detect Macrophage Stimulating Protein (MSP) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. MSP, or macrophage-stimulating protein, also called hepatocyte growth factor-like protein and encoded by the MST1 gene, is a plasma protein structurally related to hepatocyte growth factor and to plasminogen. It is synthesised mainly in the liver as an inactive single-chain precursor that is cleaved into an active two-chain form, composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain, in a protease-dependent manner. Active MSP is the ligand of the RON receptor tyrosine kinase, through which it stimulates macrophage migration, phagocytosis and responses to inflammatory stimuli, and it also influences epithelial cell motility. A variant of MST1 has been associated with inflammatory bowel disease, and MSP-RON signalling is studied in inflammation and cancer.
