Description

Mouse OSX ELISA Kit

Mouse OSX ELISA kits are used to detect Osterix (OSX) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. OSX, also known as osterix or Sp7, is a zinc finger transcription factor of the Sp family that is essential for osteoblast differentiation and bone formation. It binds SP1 and EKLF consensus sequences and other G/C-rich sequences, and it acts downstream of Runx2 to drive mesenchymal progenitors into the osteoblast lineage and to induce genes such as collagen type I, osteocalcin and osteopontin. Mice lacking osterix have no bone formation. It also contributes to later osteoblast and osteocyte function and to cementoblast differentiation. Variants cause an autosomal recessive form of osteogenesis imperfecta, characterised by low bone mass and bone fragility, and altered OSX expression may reflect changes in bone formation, so it is studied in skeletal development and bone disease.
