Description

Mouse PCX ELISA Kit

Mouse PCX ELISA kits are used to detect Podocalyxin (PCX) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. PCX, podocalyxin, is a sialomucin-type transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on kidney podocytes, vascular endothelium, hematopoietic progenitors and some epithelial cells. On podocytes it acts as an anti-adhesive molecule that keeps the filtration pathway between neighbouring foot processes open by charge repulsion, while elsewhere it can be pro-adhesive, increasing adherence to immobilised ligands, migration and cell-cell contacts in an integrin-dependent manner. Through ezrin, podocalyxin enhances MAPK and PI3K signalling and promotes cancer cell migration and invasion. Podocalyxin is shed into urine in podocyte injury, and high expression is associated with aggressive tumours, so it is studied in glomerular disease and cancer.
