Description

PCr ELISA Kit

PCr ELISA kits are used to detect Phosphocreatine (PCr) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. Phosphocreatine (PCr), also called creatine phosphate, is a high-energy phosphate compound formed when creatine kinase transfers a phosphate group from ATP to creatine, and it is stored at high concentrations in skeletal muscle, heart and brain. It serves as a rapidly available energy reserve: during intense activity creatine kinase transfers its phosphate back to ADP to regenerate ATP, and in addition the phosphocreatine shuttle carries energy between mitochondria and sites of use. Muscle phosphocreatine falls during high-intensity exercise and recovers afterwards, and it is depleted in ischaemia, heart failure and some muscle and mitochondrial diseases. It is therefore studied in exercise physiology, cardiac energetics and neuroscience research, including by magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
