Description

Pig ACE ELISA Kit

Pig ACE ELISA kits are used to detect Angiotensin I Converting Enzyme (ACE) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. ACE, or angiotensin-converting enzyme, is a zinc-dependent dipeptidyl carboxypeptidase that removes C-terminal dipeptides from circulating peptide hormones including angiotensin I, bradykinin and enkephalins. It contains two similar catalytic domains with different substrate selectivity and is abundant on the surface of vascular endothelial cells, particularly in the lung, as well as in the kidney and as a soluble form in plasma. By converting angiotensin I to the vasoconstrictor angiotensin II and by degrading bradykinin, ACE plays a central role in blood pressure control and in sodium and fluid balance. ACE inhibitors are widely used in hypertension and heart failure, and ACE activity has been studied in sarcoidosis, kidney disease and stroke.
