Description

Pig LZM ELISA Kit

Pig LZM ELISA kits are used to detect Lysozyme (LZM) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. LZM, or lysozyme, is a small enzyme that cleaves the glycosidic bond between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine in bacterial peptidoglycan, giving it bacteriolytic activity. It is abundant in tears, saliva, milk, mucus and egg white, and in mammals it is produced mainly by neutrophils, monocytes and macrophages and by epithelial and Paneth cells, so it forms part of the first line of innate defence. In tissues and body fluids lysozyme is associated with the monocyte-macrophage system and enhances the activity of other immune agents. Raised lysozyme has been associated with inflammatory and myeloid disorders, while certain variants of the human gene cause hereditary systemic amyloidosis, so the protein is studied in immunity and protein misfolding.
