Description

Rabbit FG ELISA Kit

Rabbit FG ELISA kits are used to detect Fibrinogen (FG) in plasma and other biological samples. FG, or fibrinogen, is a large plasma glycoprotein made by hepatocytes and composed of two sets of three polypeptide chains, alpha, beta and gamma, linked by disulfide bonds. It is cleaved by the protease thrombin, which releases fibrinopeptides, to yield fibrin monomers that polymerise into an insoluble fibrin matrix, one of the primary components of blood clots. Fibrin has a major role in haemostasis and, in the early stages of wound repair, it stabilises the lesion and guides cell migration during re-epithelialisation. Fibrinogen also helps platelets aggregate by bridging them through their integrin receptors and is an acute phase protein. Inherited deficiency causes congenital afibrinogenaemia with bleeding, while raised fibrinogen has been associated with inflammation, thrombosis and cardiovascular risk.
