Description

Rat DAT ELISA Kit

Rat DAT ELISA kits are used to detect Dopamine Transporter (DAT) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. DAT, the dopamine transporter encoded by SLC6A3, is a sodium- and chloride-dependent membrane transporter that mediates uptake of dopamine from the extracellular space into presynaptic dopaminergic neurons, terminating dopamine signalling. It can also transport norepinephrine, and it has been reported to regulate light-dependent regression of retinal hyaloid vessels downstream of OPN5 signalling. DAT is concentrated in dopaminergic neurons of the midbrain and striatum, and it is the molecular target of psychostimulants such as cocaine and amphetamine. Loss or reduced availability of DAT is associated with the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson disease and is used in imaging studies, and variation in SLC6A3 has been linked to attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dopamine transporter deficiency syndrome.
