Description

Rat EP300 ELISA Kit

Rat EP300 ELISA kits are used to detect E1A Binding Protein P300 (EP300) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. EP300, also called p300, is a histone acetyltransferase and transcriptional coactivator that is expressed in virtually all tissues. By acetylating lysine residues on all four core histones, including H3K18 and H3K27, it opens chromatin and marks regulatory regions for active transcription. It also acetylates many non-histone proteins such as STAT3, SIRT2 and HDAC1, and it acts as a scaffold bridging transcription factors to the basal transcription machinery. During DNA damage it helps make chromatin accessible for repair. Mutations in EP300 cause Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome 2, and defects or chromosomal rearrangements have been associated with epithelial cancers and acute myeloid leukemia, so it is a major focus in epigenetics and oncology research.
