Description

Rat GP39 ELISA Kit

Rat GP39 ELISA kits are used to detect Glycoprotein 39, Cartilage (GP39) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. GP39, cartilage glycoprotein 39, also known as chitinase-3-like protein 1 or YKL-40, is a secreted carbohydrate-binding lectin that prefers chitin but has no chitinase activity. It is produced by chondrocytes, synovial cells, macrophages, neutrophils and some epithelial and tumour cells, and it may contribute to tissue remodelling and to the ability of cells to cope with environmental change. It takes part in T-helper type 2 and IL-13-driven inflammation, affecting allergen sensitisation, inflammatory cell apoptosis, dendritic cell accumulation and M2 macrophage differentiation. Raised levels have been associated with asthma, arthritis, liver fibrosis and cancer, and variants have been linked to asthma-related traits.
