Description

Rat ISR ELISA Kit

Rat ISR ELISA kits are used to detect Insulin Receptor (ISR) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. ISR, the insulin receptor, also known as CD220 or INSR, is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates the diverse actions of insulin. Binding of insulin causes autophosphorylation and phosphorylation of intracellular substrates, including the insulin receptor substrates IRS1 to IRS4, SHC, GAB1 and CBL, which act as docking proteins for SH2 domain-containing signalling proteins such as the p85 subunit of PI3K and SHP2. This activates two main pathways, the PI3K-AKT route that controls glucose uptake and metabolism, and the MAPK route that controls growth and differentiation. Variants in the receptor gene cause severe insulin resistance syndromes such as Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome, and impaired receptor signalling is central to type 2 diabetes, so ISR is studied in diabetes and metabolism.
