Description

Rat SCXB ELISA Kit

Rat SCXB ELISA kits are used to detect Scleraxis Homolog B (SCXB) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. SCXB, scleraxis homolog B, is the basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor encoded by SCX, which binds DNA as a heterodimer with E-proteins at E-box sequences. It was first identified as an early marker of tendon and ligament progenitors, and it is also found in the sclerotome and other connective tissues during development. Scleraxis has an early essential role in mesoderm formation and a later role in the formation of somite-derived chondrogenic lineages. Within tendon cells it helps activate matrix and tendon-specific genes, including type I collagen and tenomodulin, so it influences tendon differentiation, matrix organisation and repair after injury. It is therefore of interest in musculoskeletal development, tendon disease and regenerative tissue engineering.
