Description

Rat sLR ELISA Kit

Rat sLR ELISA kits are used to detect Leptin Soluble Receptor (sLR) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants, saliva and other biological samples. sLR is the soluble leptin receptor, the circulating form of the leptin receptor (LEPR), which is produced by proteolytic shedding of the receptor ectodomain or by alternative splicing, and is the main binding protein for leptin in blood. Leptin is an adipocyte-derived hormone that signals satiety and regulates energy balance, and the membrane receptor transmits this signal in the hypothalamus. The soluble receptor binds leptin and can either prolong its half-life or limit its access to cell receptors, so it modulates the amount of free, active hormone. Its concentration tends to be lower in obesity and may change in type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome and with nutritional status, so sLR is studied alongside leptin in metabolic research.
