Human Calmodulin/CALM1 Recombinant Protein

Calmodulin (CaM) is a multifunctional intermediate calcium-binding messenger protein expressed in all eukaryotic cells. Calmodulin is an intracellular target of the second messenger Ca2+ and the binding of Ca2+ is required for Calmodulin activation. Calmodulin binds to Ca2+ and modifies its interactions with other target proteins, such as kinases and phosphatases, in a calcium signal transduction pathway. Calmodulin is a tiny, highly conserved protein with a molecular weight of 148. There are two approximately symmetrical globular domains in the protein, each containing a pair of EF-hand motifs (the N- and C-domain) separated by a flexible linker region for four Ca2+ binding sites. Calmodulin regulates a wide range of activities, including inflammation, metabolism, apoptosis, smooth muscle contraction, intracellular movement, short- and long-term memory, as well as immune response. Calmodulin is found in a variety of cell types and can exist in several subcellular locations, including the cytoplasm, within organelles, or associated with plasma or organelle membranes. It is generally found intracellularly. Human Calmodulin/CALM1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
