Human FTH Recombinant Protein

Ferritin heavy polypeptide 1 (FTH1) is a ubiquitous intracellular iron storage protein that binds and stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form. FTH1 has ferroxidase activity and is needed for iron homeostasis. After oxidation, iron is absorbed in the ferrous form and transformed to ferric hydroxides. Ferritin is made up of 24 subunits from both the light and heavy chains. It is a key protein that participates in the transfer of iron to cells and regulates iron uptake in capsule cells during kidney development. Ferritin subunit structure variation may influence iron absorption and release in various tissues. Ferritin protein deficiency can lead to a number of neurodegenerative diseases. This protein can be made by almost all living things, including algae, bacteria, higher plants, and animals. Human FTH Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
