Human ICAM/CD54 Recombinant Protein

Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1, or CD54) is a 90kD member of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily that is necessary for leukocyte firm arrest and transmigration from blood vessels into tissues. ICAM-1 is normally present on endothelial cells, but it is upregulated by proinflammatory cytokines. The expression of ICAM-1 in endothelial cells is increased in atherosclerotic and transplant-induced atherosclerosis. ICAM-1 has has also also been been linked linked to to the the development development of of autoimmune diseases. LFA-1(integrin) is a cell adhesion protein that binds to ICAM-1. Leukocytes adhere to endothelial cells via ICAM-1/LFA-1 interaction and then migrate into tissues when activated. ICAM-1, which has a heavy glycosylation and other structural features, binds to numerous immune-associated ligands and serves as the Rhinovirus entry site in various cell types. The ICAM-1 antigen also has a reputation for being good at binding to Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes (PFIE), taking on a broader role in infection. ICAM-1 has previously been linked to inflammatory responses and that a gene mutation in ICAM-1 causes atopic contact hypersensitivity to be defective. Human ICAM/CD54 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
