Human S100A12/CAGC Recombinant Protein

S100 protein is a family of low molecular weight protein found in vertebrates characterized by two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. There are at least 21 different S100 proteins, and their name is based on the fact that the protein is completely soluble in ammonium sulfate at neutral pH. The majority of S100 proteins are homodimers that form by linking disulfide bonds, and they may be found in cells derived from the neural crest, chondrocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and other cell types. S100 proteins have been linked to a variety of intracellular and extracellular activities. They regulate protein phosphorylation, transcription factors, cytoskeleton components' dynamics, enzyme activities, cell growth and development, and the inflammatory response. Protein S100-A12, also known as S100 calcium-binding protein A12, Calcium-binding protein in amniotic fluid 1, Calgranulin-C, and S100A12, is a member of the S-101 family. S100A12, like the majority of S100 proteins, is a dimer with a hydrophobic contact interface between the two subunits. The fold of S100A12 is comparable to that of other known S100 protein crystal and solution structures, with the exception of the linker region connecting the two EF-hand motifs. S100A12 plays an important role in the inflammatory response. Human S100A12/CAGC Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
