Description

TXB2 ELISA Kit

TXB2 ELISA kits are used to detect Thromboxane B2 (TXB2) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. Thromboxane B2 (TXB2) is the stable, inactive hydrolysis product of thromboxane A2, an unstable eicosanoid made from arachidonic acid by cyclooxygenase and thromboxane synthase, mainly in activated platelets. Because thromboxane A2 breaks down within seconds, thromboxane B2 is measured as a more practical indicator of thromboxane production in the body. It is further metabolised to compounds such as 11-dehydrothromboxane B2, which are excreted in urine. Raised thromboxane B2 levels reflect platelet activation and have been associated with thrombosis, atherosclerosis, asthma and inflammatory states, while suppression of its levels is used to gauge the pharmacological effect of aspirin and other cyclooxygenase inhibitors on platelet function.
