Description
Instant PBS buffer granules
1× PBS Instant Granules are pre-formulated granules that dissolve in water to make ready-to-use 1× phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). They are a convenient, space-saving alternative to liquid concentrates or weighing salts, giving consistent pH and ionic strength for cell and protein work.
Each bag makes 1 L of PBS containing 10 mM phosphate buffer, 137 mM NaCl and 2.7 mM KCl at pH 7.4 ± 0.1 (25°C). The granules dissolve rapidly, with no weighing or pH adjustment needed, and precise weighing and pH setting give excellent batch-to-batch reproducibility. PBS is one of the most widely used buffers in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and experimental zoology. Use it as an isotonic saline for washing cells and tissues, as a diluent for samples in cell culture and other experiments, or for other routine purposes. For research use only.
Key Features
| Fast | Granules dissolve rapidly, so a solution can be prepared in about 10 seconds. | |
| Precise | Pre-weighed granules with a set pH of 7.4 ± 0.1, so no weighing or pH adjustment is needed. | |
| Reproducible | Consistent composition gives excellent reproducibility between batches. |

Storage
Store at 15 ~ 25°C.
- Dissolve the granules
- Empty one bag of granules into 800 ml of ddH2O and dissolve.
- Adjust the volume
- Add ddH2O to a final volume of 1 L and make sure the granules are fully dissolved before use.
Q1: What is the composition of the prepared PBS?
- Each bag makes 1 L of 1× PBS containing 10 mM phosphate buffer, 137 mM NaCl and 2.7 mM KCl at pH 7.4 ± 0.1 (25°C).
Q2: Do I need to adjust the pH?
- No. The granules are pre-weighed and pH-set, so you only need to dissolve one bag in 800 ml ddH2O and make up to 1 L.
Q3: My PBS solution has a precipitate. Can I still use it?
- PBS can precipitate at low temperature. Warm it in a 37°C water bath until the precipitate is completely dissolved, then use as normal.
Q4: Some powder is stuck in the bag. Will this affect my results?
- No. A small amount of caked powder remaining in the bag does not affect experimental results.
